M002 Long Service & Good Conduct Medal Victoria Royal Navy to Alfred Adolphus Ford, Caulker, Royal Navy HMS Sapphire. A Carpenter from Devonport who served from 1874 to 1903, this his only medal entitlement.

A lfred Adolphus Ford was born in Devonport 5 September 1854 a Carpenter he entered the Royal Navy aboard HMS Indus as Carpenter's Crew 4 June 1874. Ford joined HMS Britannia 16 July 1874, HMS Lapwing 15 September 1874 and HMS Victor Emanuel 1 January 1878. Advanced to Carpenter's Mate 1 February 1878 he joined HMS Charybdis 21 February 1878, rated Caulker 10 November 1880 he continued to serve ashore and afloat including HMS Warrior in 1882, joining HMS Sapphire 18 January 1883 he was awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal in August 1884 aboard this ship, leaving HMS Sapphire 26 July 1886.

Rated Carpenter's Mate aboard HMS Swiftsure 1 January 1890 and Shipwright Pensioner 5 December 1898 whlist at Vivid II, Ford went on to serve until 31 March 1903 when he was discharged shore to pension. This his only medal entitlement, unusual rating.

M003 Long Service & Good Conduct Medal Victoria Royal Navy early engraved naming type to John Bryan, Captain of the Hold Royal Navy, HMS Valiant. From Limerick, Ireland Bryan served from 1857 to 1877 including the Royal Yacht Osborne 1863 to 1867, this his only medal entitlement.

John Bryan was born in Limerick, Ireland 8 May 1839 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy aboard HMS Renown 13 January 1857. Rated Able Seaman 25 September 1861 he joined HMS Hero 26 September 1861, HMS Cumberland 23 November 1862, HMS Pembroke 23 November 1862, Excellent 26 May 1865 and the Royal Yacht Osborne 26 May 1865 serving aboard this vessel until 8 May 1867.

Bryan joined HMS Serapis 9 May 1867 and rated Captain of the Hold (Petty Officer) the same day, from there he joined HMS Rattlesnake 4 December 1869 and HMS Valiant 4 March 1875, awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal in June 1875 he remained aboard HMS Valiant as Captain of the Hold until 18 May 1877 when he was discharged to pension. This his only medal entitlement, interesting rate.

M004 Long Service & Good Conduct Medal Royal Navy Victoria Leading Stoker Henry Sandy, Royal Navy HMS Serapis. From Stubbington, Hampshire, Sandy served from 1880 to 1900 including the Egypt campaign of 1882.

Henry Sandy was born in Stubbington, Hampshire 16 April 1860 and entered the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class aboard HMS Asia 7 March 1880. Sandy joined HMS Lord Warden 9 June 1890 and HMS Inconstant 24 August 1880 taking part in the 1882 campaign in Egypt the ship arrived too late to take part in the bombardment of Alexandria on 11 July 1882.

Rated Stoker 1st Class 1 November 1880 he rejoined HMS Asia 17 November 1882 and served aboard HM Ships Hector, Rupert and Colossus being advanced to Leading Stoker 4 October 1887. Sandy joined HMS Serapis 23 July 1890 and was awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal in February 1892. Rated Leading Stoker 1st Class aboard HMS Serapis 1 April 1893 he joined the Cruiser HMS Mildura 9 June 1893 and the 2nd Class Cruiser HMS Katoomba 21 April 1897. Sandy served until 25 January 1900 when he was discharged to pension, he rejoined briefly at Victory II 2 August 1914 but was discharged medically unfit 22 October 1914.

M006 Long Service & Good Conduct Medal Victoria Army to Company Sergeant Major Jesse Moss, Royal Artillery. Moss served with the Royal Horse Artillery and in 1896 was appointed Permanent Staff to the Antrim Artillery Militia and in 1897 to the Tynemouth RGA Volunteers. Discharged in 1904 he died in 1914

Jesse Moss was born in Newark, Nottinghamshire an 18 year 5 month old wheelwright he attested 21 November 1879. Moss was posted to the Royal Artillery Riding Establishment 1 December 1880 and joined 'A' Brigade Royal Horse Artillery 1 July 1884. Appointed Lance Bombardier 19 September 1885, promoted Bombardier 30 July 1886 and Corporal 16 March 1888. Moss remained with the renamed K/A Brigade Royal Horse Artillery, promoted Sergeant 19 July 1889 he served with 'B' and 'R' Batteries, Royal Horse Artillery. Moss served in India from 16 September 1891 to 12 November 1894. On 28 February 1896 was posted as permanent Staff to the Antrim Artillery Militia.

Promoted Company Sergeant Major 1 February 1897 he transferred as permanent Staff to the Tynemouth Royal Garrison Artillery (Volunteers) 20 May 1898 and was promoted acting Sergeant Major 7 ctober 1898. Awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal Army Order 52 of 1898 Moss remained with the Tynemouth Artillery until discharged to pension 31 May 1904. Jesse Moss died at Tynemouth on 16 October 1914. This his only medal entitlement.
